Anxiety Tutor
What is Anxiety Tutor?
Anxiety Tutor is a resource about all things anxiety. The mission here is to demystify the anxious state. This space offers an honest and open way to discover what anxiety really is, how it functions, why it feels awful, and how to let it go once and for all.
In his high-pressured role as an entrepreneur, Jamie experienced professional burnout, which led to anxiety. After spending a lot of time and money searching for help, Jamie was referred to Gill. Together, they successfully worked to restore his system to a balanced state. Keen to spread the message that there is hope for those stuck in the anxious state, this podcast was born. It offers a fun way to get to know more about anxiety. Listen for yourself and feel free to offer feedback, ask questions or make suggestions for further episodes.
One to one sessions
If you prefer to work in a one-to-one manner, Gill offers online sessions. The beauty of these sessions is they quickly address the anxious state, allowing you to get back to living life to the full.
(Currently due to research commitments there are a small number of appointments available, and a short waiting list).

About Gill
Gill offers a unique approach to the treatment of anxiety. Following her own experience of anxiety in her 20’s, she found the explanations and treatment options to be poor. As a consequence, she has spent the last 25 years working and researching the topic and treatment of anxiety. Her approach is to educate people about how their survival system creates the state of anxiety, and how to work with that same system to create a lasting balanced state. Gill is of the firm belief that knowledge should come first. Followed by applying knowledge with support. This leads to immediate relief from the anxious state, giving people the evidence of their own experience to refer to. The approach leads to empowerment and self-reliance.
Gill became a specialist in the treatment anxiety following her counselling training and the completion of her BSc in Psychology. Her current research PhD at the University of Edinburgh explores anxiety beyond the disorder model. She uses a systems approach to explore the functionality and purpose of the human survival response. Her research will ultimately lead to a co-created, lived experience informed model for understanding anxiety. This is with a view to improving future interventions for the prevention and treatment of anxiety.
Gill has recently conducted a research MSc in the field of Global Mental Health, looking at how conditions create distress. Her research indicates that treating distress as mental illness ignores causality and locates dysfunction in the individual. Gill says ‘Ultimately, it is my intention to counter the view that people experiencing anxiety are mentally ill. It has been my experience that when people are given the information they need about how anxiety is created, and how to use the system that generates it to create a better state, people become miraculously balanced and calm. Such transformation does not support a theory of dysfunction -
Buckminster Fuller said – “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete”.
It’s my pleasure to be doing just that with my current research. I look forward to sharing the findings with you as I go along’.
